The # 1 Barrier to Business Ownership

This is Part 1 of a 7 Part series which aims to help would be business owners work through some of the initial obstacles of starting their own business.

There are many reasons why one would leave the relative security of a 9 to 5 job to form their own business. High on the list of those reasons include:

· You control your destiny.

· Your income is not limited

· You can make a difference

· Do something you enjoy

· Flexibility

That’s a pretty compelling list, and to that are many more persuasive reasons to venture into the world of business ownership.

So what holds people back?

· Money

· Security

· Competition

· Ideas

· Fear

· Confidence

Hopefully you’ve noticed that with the exception of money, none of the initial barriers are operational in nature. The number one obstacle standing in the way of you and your dreams of business owner ship is YOU. That’s right, I said it…the #1 Barrier to Business Ownership is YOU! But we can fix that.

In parts 2 through 7 we’ll work through each one of those impediments in more detail.

I think you’ll see that each one of those barriers can be easily overcome, some more easily than others, but with a long list of positives to starting your own business we hope you’ll see that working through the barriers is certainly worth it.
