Who’s Getting a Leg Up…You or Your Competitors?

Do you do everything you should be doing in order to be successful? Are you out there day and night, putting in the work to be sure your competitors aren’t getting a leg up on you? I know many of us think we just don’t have enough time to do what we need to do in order to make our businesses thrive, but as I’ve said in the past that is a myth, it’s a myth that is keeping your business down and stunting your success.

With the economy on shaky footing, now is the time to focus and invest everything you have into your current business or starting that business you’ve always wanted. It might mean a few more sleep deprived evenings, or missing a season of Survivor, but hustling every minute of every day, and going the extra mile, will give you and your business the foundation it needs to not only withstand the shaky times, but thrive in them.

A couple days ago I was contacted by Josten, a 20 year old entrepreneur who runs the website www.ncwayoflife.com, about guest posting on SmallBizBee.com. He said he was looking for ways to increase readership, and get his articles read, and it struck me that here was somebody who was getting “it”. Josten was out there hustling, trying to build his blog and his business, doing what he could to get a leg up on his competitors, and to prove my point below is the article Josten submitted.

Do you go the extra mile in whatever you do?

Doing that will bring you more than what you expected. I learned from my previous job about going the extra mile what it can bring to me. Every day going to work doing more than I signed up to do. Pushing carts, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash out of the front of the store, and cashiering. It might be hard for you to believe that i did all of that for 7.25 a hour. Now I sit back and think why was I working so hard? If I had not worked hard I wouldn’t have made it this far. Now at my current job it’s not hard to me as it is to other people. When i find myself thinking that I’m getting tired I dig down inside and pull something extra out of me. My fellow associates have said what can’t you do? There’s only a few things that I’ve not gotten the chance to do.

My view on being a leader and successful is learning every aspect of what ever you work at or do. That’s a sign of going the extra mile. You cannot expect to be paid more when you only do what you signed up for. You limit yourself from improving and developing new skills.

For example a farmer clears the land, plow’s it, and plants the seed’s with no pay in advance, that’s a quote from the master key to riches. I thought to myself wow its so simple to understand. Another way that I used this principle is by how hard I work, it’ll reflect on my paycheck. But any way’s I’m not going to stop going the extra mile regardless of anything that I do. It helped shape me into how I am becoming. Start doing more than what you are paid for or instructed to do and it will have its results. Thanks for reading Josten

About the Author

Well to start it off I’m 20 years old. I was born on December 9th,1987 in Goldsboro North Carolina. My Life has been amazing despite all of the bad things that I’ve been through. But that’s not important. So ever since middle school I’ve had an entrepreneurial spirit living in me. In middle school i was skateboarding every chance I could get. When I switched middle school’s I started selling candy and Cd’s. Till this day that taught me alot about myself and my brother from another that when you put 2 minds together there is not limit to what you can do. All you really have to do is be on the same page about what you are trying to accomplish. Are main goal to accomplish was to acquire money selling goods to kids around school. The goods we were selling were candy. I know for a fact that there’s many people out here who wouldn’t know how to go about doing that. Not to downgrade anyone or make them feel less of them self. What I’m getting at is if I can do it so can you. Then as I was in high school I was working for target doing slave work. Now I’m currently working at Sam’s Club I mean this job is amazing. With all of the business people and entrepreneur’s I’ve befriended and know it keeps hope in me knowing that I’m going to be greater than I already am. Well know I’m focusing on obtaining more knowledge about rental property and possibly doing some fashion modeling. Thanks for reading
