The question today was a simple yet important one, and focused on getting a sense of how businesses were using social media, or whether their business had embraced social media at all. I was not surprised to find the overwhelming response was "Yes we've embraced social media, and here's how", since that is what I would expect from users on a social media site.
A more interesting question is why aren't some businesses leveraging social media outlets? I think a lot has to do with the adoption period one goes through when beginning to use something new, it just takes time. Also, for some businesses I'm sure there's a learning curve, so while they know social media is important they don't know where to start. And lastly for some businesses, sad but true, they still see social media as a "kids toy", which means they're completely missing out on the multitude of opportunities social media presents. As any Twitter Follower of SmallBizBee knows social media has allowed us to grow our business in ways impossible only a few short years ago.

For my brand new business, I use Twitter, Squidoo, StumbleUpon and LinkedIn. I am still getting the hang of how to use theses tools for my business though.
I’m yet to fully use Twitter to market my blog. In most cases, I just use it to connect with other bloggers and that’s about it.

@Yan
That’s a perfect way to use Twitter! Keep doing that, and then when you have a new blog entry tweet it to your followers and you’ll be on your way to driving quality traffic.
@Carla
It can be hard to juggle more than two social networks…how do you do it?
