Don’t Stress, It’s Bad For Business

by smallbizbee · 5 comments

I've been stressed all day.  Just one of those days where you have too much to do and it seems there is not enough time in the day to get them all done (we know that's a myth though).

Deadlines are looming, customers are looking for answers, and every passing minute I've been feeling more and more stress creap into my being.

As a result it dawned on my just how bad for business being stressed out is. Business conversations are rushed, contacts are being brushed aside or replied to hastily, and each interaction I've had today could have gone so much better had I not been carrying this mountain of stress on my back.

However, my loss should be your gain, or at least a learning opportunity.  I did a quick Google search on ways to reduce stress and ran across this list, from http://www.tranquilityisyours.com/

If you're feeling stressed I hope these tips help, not only is it unhealthy to carry stress around, it's bad for your business health as well.

This is especially true for coaches, as no one wants to turn to a stressed out coach for support!

Thanks for a great post!

I’d like to add a few more strategies to the list, which are prayer, deep breath, and remain focused on the reason you’re in business for yourself (whether its, flexible hours, being your own boss, better salary, longer vacations), which are all reasons to put a smile back on your face.

another helpful article that i am sharing with my network. I find stress~ in work as in any other area of my life~has me getting in my own way.

I am so busy thinking about ME (I call it “survival mode) that I can become the person I do not want to be.

However, there is nothing like going through some really hard times and constant stresses to; have one realising what one can persevere through; giving others the opportunity to help out; to identify the friends who will be there during the not-so-fair weather; increase awareness about how some people live their lives every day all over the world; and to break the “stress freakout” as one realises that perseverance does count for soemthing, and after a hard slog it’ll take something really big! to stress one out like that again.

I like # 13. I call it “Quick brain, slow mouth”. Good post.

@Will
There have been a few times when I would have been much better off heeding that advice, that is for sure!
