by smallbizbee · 2 comments

The following presentation based on research by the Empire Research Team looks at what they perceive to be the 5 most dangerous trends facing small business in 2009.

I agree with the overall theme of the presentation, but also look at it with an objective eye. Overall I think they do a good job here at identifying risk areas for all business that we should keep on our radar.

What Are The Five Dangers?

  1. Fighting the clutter factor
  2. Customers leaving you for perceived indifference
  3. Lagging behind in technology
  4. Increasing marketing cost with decreased effectiveness
  5. Increasing competition

What do you think the biggest dangers are for small business in 2009?

I think that lagging behind in technology can be a big problem for many small business owners. The products and services available seem to change on almost a daily basis, so it’s hard to know what’s out there.

It’s hard to implement solutions that you don’t know about. But, fortunately, there is a ton of great stuff out there, much of it for FREE, that can help small businesses automate effectively and put themselves in position to compete with the bigger companies.

@Sheryl Schuff
We live in pretty exciting times when it comes to being able to self educate. Information is so readily available, and as you say FREE, that business owners can get up to speed rather quickly on changes.
