How to Fix Postage Meter Printing Problems
Most companies in the Inland Empire have felt the sting of the higher than usual postage prices. The decrease in the amount of people sending out mail has caused a necessary increase in the amount that you will need to spend when you are sending things through the mail.
Naturally, the majority of companies have been turning to postage machines to get at least some relief from the postage that they need to get their mail where it needs to go. Now, what do you do when there is a problem with the printer?
Printer problems are fairly common in any kind of printer. The postage machine is nothing more than a printer which prints postage. It is only natural that you will encounter problems from time to time.
Luckily, there are some steps you can go through before you have to call in a specialist from Pitney-Bowes or the provider who is leasing you the postage scales in the first place. Even if you have repair service in your contract, going through the troubleshooting procedure can help you to save some time and hassle.
Check the Plug
In many cases, the simplest solutions are the most easily looked over. Check the plug to see if the unit is plugged in properly or if there is a problem with the plug itself. You may also want to check to see if the machine is in sleep mode.
Distorted Ink
If you are noticing spots or smudges, you might need to replace the ink cartridge. Simply check the machine to make sure there are no obstructions which might be causing a paper jam and then replace the cartridge.
Purge the Nozzles
Check to see if the nozzles need to be purged by going into the options settings. Choose the maintenance option under advanced features. Next you will choose the purge option from the printer maintenance menu.
Check Internet Connection
There are times in which your connection might be lost and the system will not operate. Check to make sure that your provider is providing service to your area at the time. Also check all connections.
Check for Software Problems
If your machine is connected to a computer, check the internet settings as well as checking to see if the software has been corrupted in any way.
Clean the Machine
If you are noticing streaks in your print job, simply cleaning the machine will often be enough to get rid of the problem. Make sure to turn it off first.
If all else fails, you always have the service provider you can call for a service call. They will be able to come out and get your machine working again in no time. If you have gone through the steps above, you might want to mention what you have done to try and alleviate the problem.
IMPORTANT! It is against the law to open the machine and attempt to service it or take it an unlicensed third party to work on the machine. Only licensed professionals are allowed to fix mechanical or internal problems as per federal law.
